1. Prioritize Review and Preparation
Show up to the meeting ready to make an informed decision. The work of a director happens before the gavel drops.

Your Action Plan: Make time each month to thoroughly read the meeting agenda, all financial reports, and any associated vendor bids or maintenance proposals.

2. Listen to the Community (But Stay the Course)
You are a representative of the homeowners, and part of your job is to be an open channel for feedback and concerns.

Facilitate Communication: Actively listen to homeowner feedback at meetings or through approved channels, even when the feedback is critical. Their perspective is valuable.

Remember Your Fiduciary Role: While listening is vital, your decisions must still be based on the best interests of the entire association (Duty of Loyalty), not just the individual or small group making the loudest complaint.
3. Uphold the Final, Unified Decision
Once the Board takes a final vote, your individual opinion about that decision is no longer relevant.

Present a United Front: Whether you voted for or against a motion, once it passes, you must publicly support the Board's final, unified decision. Dissension should happen during the debate in the meeting, not after, or publicly to homeowners.
